Ignore Meta Keywords: Google's Official Announcement

Yes, Google is no longer considering Meta keywords as a critical factor in search rankings, though other on-page elements such as the title, description and so on are still vital elements in terms of SEO. Google has stated that they use over 200 factors to determine rankings, but keyword tags are not one of them.

Does it hurt to keep the keyword tag? I would say no. In case a service decides to use the keyword tag someday, your site is prepared.

The key taka-way from this is that Yes Google ignores the keyword meta tag but Yahoo and Bing do not. So it is still important to include these in your search engine optimization procedures, just make sure that the keywords match the content and your a winner all the way around.
