Google shows Breadcrumb on SERPs

Today I just wanted to share a strange but an interesting thing that Rob Hammond and Leo Fogarty came across whilst using the Google search engine a couple of weeks ago. They witnessed the breadcrumb data on the search result.

Here are a few screen shots captured by these bloggers…

I personally haven’t noticed any breadcrumbs so far on US and UK version of Google, but then these kinds of results are very uncommon to observe. If Google opts to show breadcrumb on SERP then you should consider implementing typical breadcrumb navigation on your site as part of your website architecture.

If website architecture is not something you could grasp yet, but would like to know more about then read the blog post on website architecture tips for SEO from Google and Bing.

This is very interesting! Thanks for sharing. Although I believe that the breadcrumbs was a test and they still haven't rolled it out as a standard feature. Irrespective of whether Google shows breadcrumbs in future, I believe they are a critical part of sites - especially the ones dealing with eCommerce and multiple product hierarchies.
