In my last post, I wrote about 5R’s of online retail blog (Ready, Reach, Realize, Research, Retain) which elucidated why online retailers should blog. In the same posts, I also mentioned that online retailers/merchants who do not blog are missing the golden opportunity to market their products and services to their target audience.
According to Getelastic.com, only 15% of top 500 online retailers have ecommerce blogs. This data is a bit old but still worth reading, so check it out.
I recently looked up the top 100 internet retailers of 2009 and tried to verify if they own a blog. I came to the conclusion that 44 out of 100 top online retailers have an ecommerce blog.

I have categorized posting frequency into 4 types: Hyper Active - Active - Just there - Dormant.
The posting frequency depends upon how often the blog is updated.

I agree, I believe retailers are missing out by not blogging. Yes, it is time consuming, but it is a great source of loyal followers which could turn into customers.
This is some good info. Even though it's from March 2009, we've been looking at how top retailers are blogging to get a jist of common trends in apparel e-commerce blogs/marketing. I notice Amazon has 4 blogs, of course Zappos is there. Notice Wal-Mart has a ton of content not specifically related to Shleping product.
