PriceGrabber Review

PriceGrabber.com is not something new to online shoppers; they would have heard about it almost a million times over. But why review this site which has been reviewed so many times. It’s because PriceGrabber has not only sustained itself in the market, but also attracted more visitors with its innovative features. The company powers comparison shopping functionality for a network of leading Internet sites, including MSN Shopping, AOL Shopping, About.com, iVillage, Comcast, and CNET.

Specialty:
PriceGrabber is a generic comparison shopping engine where shoppers can compare products and services contained in 25 channels ranging from clothing, books & magazines, to computers, cameras and so on.

PriceGrabber.com reaches over 3.7 million people every month across the US. The site attracts an educated, fairly wealthy, and slightly male biased, skewing older audience.

PriceGrabber has redesigned its classic homepage to give a new look. The alphabetical listing of categories has moved from centre to left giving space for featured products, most popular product, and highest rated product. If they had a section for featured merchant on the home page, it would have attracted more merchants with higher bids.

For Merchants:
PriceGrabber follows two types of revenue models for merchants. Merchants who have online stores are listed on the basis of Cost per Click (CPC). Merchants who do not have online stores sell through PriceGrabber storefronts and are charged on the basis of Cost per Sale (CPS).

PriceGrabber accepts merchant feed in the tab-delimited/CSV format. It supports XML feeds only from Yahoo! Stores.

Organic Listing: Pricegrabber has good organic search results for both long and short keywords as indicated by its position in Google search.

Product Page Review: PriceGrabber’s product information is quite comprehensive. It lists all the stores selling a particular product and also gives expert and user reviews. PriceGrabber first lists featured merchants followed by merchants who have listed the lowest price for that product. Featured Merchant is the terminology used by PriceGrabber to describe an advertiser who is paying a premium to be displayed on top.

If an online retailer hasn’t found the right price, he/she can set price alert. Price alerts will notify an online shopper when the price of a particular product drops to the price he/she wanted.

Interesting Features: Pricegrabber has come up with the Market Reporter, which gives you access to e-commerce shopping data from millions of consumers. It generates consumer behavior reports which are sourced from surveying online shoppers. Business Intelligence reports on traffic patterns with pricing trends, buying habits, iphone trends is a jackpot for merchants. It will help merchants to understand who their potential consumers are and what will sell better at what price.

PriceGrabber has also introduced the Back to School shopping guide which talks about all the supplies required for school. Surprisingly, it has also included wine & Champagne category in School shopping guide page, I don't know for what good reasons it has been included.

Well, we have heard all about comparing products and services. How about comparing candidates for Elections’08? Pricegrabber now lets user compare candidates, participate in discussions. And lo, it also takes you through a series of questions and tells you whom you are likely to vote for.
