How to check backlinks of a website on search engines

Most of the online business retailers think how to improve the search engine rankings of their website for the best keywords. Two major aspects that influence the ranking factors are

In this article, let us discuss in detail about who is linking to your website?

If you’re a website owner and want to know who is linking to your website. Here are the ways to check the backlinks of your website.

Example:

Go to www.google.com and type in search box as follows:

link:www.Yourwebsitename.com (Replace Yourwebsitename.com with your website Domain name)

Google will display the number of websites, which are linked to your website.

Go to www.yahoo.com and type in search box as follows:

link:www.Yourwebsitename.com (Replace Yourwebsitename.com with your website Domain name)

It will display the number of backlinks for your website and also includes your own website backlinks.

If you don’t want your website to get listed in the backlinks search just type the below command in the search box of Yahoo

link:www.Yourwebsitename.com–site:www.Yourwebsitename.com
(Replace Yourwebsitename.com with your website Domain name)

The above command will show up the number of links from other websites to your website.

Google also offers webmaster tools that let you check backlinks for your website in a detailed manner.

You can easily create an account with webmaster tools and your site will be verified for user authentication. After the verification is successfully completed, you can analyze the links to your site by clicking on the Links tab at the top. You will see two options on the left:

  • External links
  • Internal links
Select external links

You can see the list of URLs of your website

First column shows the links of your pages and the second column shows the number of links for that particular URL.

Google note: This may not display all the external links to this page.

To know what are the backlinks to your WebPages just click on the URL’s and it will give a detailed list of URL’s linking to your WebPages
