Green Revolution in Shopping

Shopping trends keep changing constantly; “Green products” seem to be the buzz word around. According to a recent survey by Shoplocal.com, Americans today are acutely aware of environmental issues and their ramifications. They are willing to spend more money on eco-friendly products.

Insights from the survey:
  1. 65% of the 2,455 people surveyed said they were willing to spend more money on environmentally-friendly goods.
  2. Despite the downward trend in retail, 65% of those surveyed expected to increase their spending on eco-friendly products.
  3. 85% of the respondents said they were familiar with “green” products.
  4. 55% have purchased a specific item because it was considered “green-certified.”
  5. 49% specifically looked for the Energy Star-rated symbol on appliances and consumer electronics.
  6. 24% responded that they check labels and shop specifically for organically-grown groceries and health and beauty products.
  7. 51% of those surveyed showed interest in reducing energy use, indicating Energy conservation as a primary concern.
  8. 39% responded that they search for biodegradable products and natural fabrics.

The above statistics shows that there is an increase in awareness about Green Products which has affected the shopping trend by inducing consumers towards purchasing Eco-friendly products.
