3 Simple Data feed optimization activities

Data feed optimization is one of the most important factors leading to accurate product placement and easily identified in the comparison engines.

Data feed Optimization involves three basic activities
  1. Data Optimization
  2. Product Categorization
  3. Search Optimization
Data Optimization: The product data feeds must comply with the data format requirements and specific characteristics of shopping engines.

Product Categorization: Each product data feed should be mapped in a specific product category of every shopping engine.

Search Optimization: Frequently used keywords associated with a product should be placed in the product title, description, and other attributes of the product.

I run a web retail business & i do list my bulk products on top 3 CSEs Shopping,shopzilla & Nextag)
So far what i understood the general behavior of these CSEs are:

The more you provide information on the mandatory & recommended fields, the better visibiity you get, not only the paid search engine but also in organic search results.

Idris, I agree with you, categorization/mapping according to the CSE's defined taxonomy is an important part of Data feed optimization.

I submitted a very detailed list of products to Google base and it doesn't help. I tried to categorise as much as possible including customised attributes. But it doesn’t seem to be working.
