US online retailing – 18% growth in Q1, 2007

A research conducted by Commerce Department, U.S. showed 18% growth in online retailing in the first quarter of the year 2007 in comparison with the year 2006. The report recorded $31billion sales in first quarter of 2007. The previous year registered $26 billion in sales in the first quarter.

There could have been more increase in the percentage. However, The Commerce Department did not included eBay sales in their results. Some sales analysts’ have estimated that the actual increase rate might go up to 60%, if the total eBay sales have been included in the survey.
